Dr Fiona McAndrew (she/her)
I am an Irish-Australian clinical counsellor and an elite performance specialist.
I work with adults (individuals and couples), in person in and online (internationally) in areas such as stress, burnout, anxiety and depression; injury and chronic pain; midlife transition; international re-settlement; breathing; problems with confidence, over-thinking; public speaking and interviews; relationships and grief and loss.
I hold a PhD in Music Psychology from The University of Melbourne, a Master of Counselling (Distinction) from Monash University, and a B.A.Hons (First Class) in Psychology from The University of Western Australia. I am trained in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Motivational Interviewing.
I originally worked as a professional opera singer on the international stage for over 25 years. I trained on the Opera Course at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama in London and I have been a conservatoire teacher and researcher in performance psychology. This experience informs my work with elite performers in several fields-sport, medicine, business, musical theatre, opera, dance, film, contemporary music and creative industries.
I work as a private therapist and cannot provide Kela-reimbursed rehabilitative psychotherapy. I offer both short- and longer-term support and, as a native speaker, I conduct therapy exclusively in English.
